SHORT STORY - AN ACT IN TIME

AN ACT IN TIME By Amina Khaleel Sunil’s parents were going to Delhi on a business trip. They had actually wanted to convert it into a family vacation, but since Sunil had his last exam that day, they could not take him along. They decided to leave Sunil under the care of his aunt, attend the business meet, cut the trip short and be back the next day itself. The vacation was put off for now. Even though they were a bit apprehensive of leaving their 11 year old son alone for the first time, Sunil was composed and relaxed and assured his parents that he would take care of himself. He wanted to prove to them that he was a responsible boy. The lure of the new video game that his father had promised to bring along on their return was another thing that excited Sunil. SHORT STORY - SIZE DOES NOT MATTER

SIZE DOES NOT MATTER By Amina Khaleel In the beautiful valley of Rabbitland lived Jumbo. Jumbo’s parents had migrated to Rabbitland in search of employment. They were employed at a popular tourist attraction “Ride an elephant” at a new amusement park on the outskirts of the city. They were well fed, paid a good salary and treated affectionately. They loved carrying young rabbits on their backs, eating bananas offered by visitors, playing with their trunks etc. But the only worry that was plaguing them was Jumbo’s education. Being illiterates themselves, they understood the importance of education, but the only school that existed there had refused to admit him because of his size and hence Jumbo was very upset. He missed his previous school, his friends and teachers miserably. He enjoyed studying and desperately wanted to go to school, but living next door to the school and yet not being able to go there made his pain unbearable. One day after his parent

Nature at its best... Pics taken during visit to Yelagiri hills

GUIDE TO YELAGIRI HILLS

Yelagiri hills is a small hill station located near Vaniyambadi in the Vellore district of Tamil Nadu. It is serene and silent and the cool breeze in the evenings attract tourists from neighbouring areas to visit this place. The road leading to Yelagiri is well maintained and has 14 hair pin bends.  It is lined with beautiful trees on either sides and several honey combs and jack fruit and eucalyptus trees can be spotted. There are plenty of hotels and guest houses in and around Yelagiri but all the good ones get filled during weekends. It is better to book rooms in advance if you are planning to stay for a few days. It is better to have your own mode of transportation as it is difficult to find cabs or autos there. You can travel in your car or hire a cab. Even though PTC buses are available they are usually overcrowded. The main attractions of Yelagiri include the  Punganoor lake- cum park  and  Nature park .  Eateries are not aplenty here and drinking
